Grad School: Round 2

I completed my W&M application today. Delaware is pretty much finished...just waiting for their freaking emails so my recommenders can write their little doo-wahs about me and I can upload my personal statement. Seriously, their online application system is EFFED up. No me gusta.

Next up is Virginia Tech followed by George Mason and VCU. Yee haw. As of right now, I think my first choice is either VCU or GMU. They're in good places (Richmond and Fairfax), plus I like their programs. Of course, my family would LOOOOOVE it if I went to Tech, but frankly, not a fan of the campus or the BFE-ness of Blacksburg. I could also give a rats ass about football, so there you go.

Here's to this year's round of applying to grad school being better than last!

New TV Season

So, I just finished watching the Grey's Anatomy season premiere online. I liked it, but did anyone else notice the STRIKING MASH parallels? They froze a patient, which Hawkeye and BJ did in "Life Time." Also, on the premiere episode, one of the patient's insurance is set to expire at midnight, but he needs an operation. So, Bailey tells Alex to turn back the clock. Exactly like the episode where Hawkeye changes the clock so that soldier with the kids doesn't die on Christmas. I dunno...I just thought it was kinda funny/annoying.

Then we have The Office, which was HILARIOUS. LOVE it. I'm not a HUGE fan of Holly, but she's growing on me. And of course, the whole Jim/Pam situation made me happy.

CP Reunion Tomorrow

Barack Obama and Joe Biden are going to be in Fredericksburg tomorrow. Holler!

I'm driving up tomorrow morning for an early reunion/homecoming with the CPs and some professors to watch him do his thang, honey. I can't wait.

I'm trying to learn Gimp. Gah. I was just getting good at Photoshop, and it would definitely be frowned upon if I worked on icon stuff at work.

Oh, I can only imagine. lol

Boss: Um...these are supposed to be pictures of the Governor's Palace, not The Swamp.
Me: Oh, sorry. I'll get on that.

That never happened, but I think that's how it would go.

Totally unqualified for that...

So, tomorrow the local museum is having a collections workshop. I told the woman running it that I am going to attend and she asked me to present on handling photographs and film since that is what I'm doing this summer. I told her I would, but I have no idea what she wants. Plus, I don't feel qualified to teach people. I guess since these people don't have the first clue about collections management/artifact handling, I'll be okay, but it's just overwhelming. It'll be good to spread the joy as my mom says. Ha.

Work Update

They can keep me full-time until the end of August. After that, it's still up in the air. Jenna has to get permission from her adviser to take over for Tracey when she's on maternity leave. I don't know what that has to do with me staying, but yeah...

STILL not registered for classes.

Ho hum.

A League of Their Own - Signing

Mac Attack

Soo...here is my very first post made on my brand new MacBook Pro. YAY! So far, I'm liking it, but it's definitely a change from a PC. I'm glad that I was able to kinda ease into the Mac world at work, and now I have one of my very own. Huzzah!

The only thing that is sucking right now is finding equivalents to programs that I used on my PC that don't work on a Mac. For example, I'm not about to shell out $650 for the Mac version of Photoshop. Sad, but true because CS3 is awesome (I use it at work). Also, if anyone has a good screen capture program, preferably free, that will work on a Mac, I'm totally up for suggestions.

So, in keeping with the theme of making good life decisions, I just purchased a PlayStation 2. No...not the newest and shiniest of technologies, but all I really want is DDR.

I made two other good life decisions today. )

Back from New York...

-The Yankees lost horribly to the Red Sox. It was seriously one of the most pathetic games of baseball I've watched in a while.

-A lot of bickering between my parents and I. Nothing new there.

-Took a cruise into the East River to watch the Macy's fireworks. It rained.

-Saw Avenue Q - finally, after listening to the soundtrack for nearly 5 years. Loved it!

-Ate at Sardi's. We didn't see anyone famous this time (a few years ago we saw Patricia Neal). :(

-Saw Spamalot. Holy hell...so funny! Stephen Collins (aka Rev. Camden from Seventh Heaven) was King Arthur and Drew Lachey was Patsy. Maybe I had low expectations going in, but they were good!

-Went to the Cloisters (very cool), Tiffany's, the American Folk Art Museum (I like the Rockefeller in Williamsburg better...plus, I get in for free there), a street market on 6th Avenue and Greenwich Village.

Overall it was a good trip. However, it would have been better without the constant nagging of my mother, but I guess that is to be expected...since, you know, it has been going on my whole life. Ah well, we'll get over it. We always do.

Tomorrow I am super pumped for The Philadelphia Story at a local theater. Best movie ever!

Mamma Mia comes out in 18 days. Oh man! I haven't been so excited for a movie in a long time. I kinda wanna see the musical again (for the third time) when we're in New York...but we're going to see Spamalot instead. I'm sure it'll be a good trade off.

Oh, as if that wasn't enough...the local theater is having its summer movie series again. Next Monday they're showing The Philadelphia Story...um, FAVORITE MOVIE EVER.

Holler!

Okay, it's been a really long time (aka February) since I last posted any graphics. So here are 29 M*A*S*H icons up for grabs. Most will look familiar if you lurk/participate in [info]mashstillness challenges, but honestly, I haven't had time to re-cap anything since the great external hard drive crash of 2007. So...there ya have it.

Quick Update

So, we had Photoshop training at work yesterday. Too bad I don't use Photoshop for my job (one of the other interns does, but I was allowed to go to training anyway). I learned some cool tricks, but nothing that I would use while making icons other than some keyboard shortcuts...but I could have looked those up online. However, I can now touch-up portraits. Ha. Oh, the joys of working in production.

Speaking of the job...I like it, but I kinda wish I applied for the other internship instead of what I'm doing. I'm doing data entry, which is fine, but it gets really dry. The other intern is scanning images and correcting them in Photoshop. I'm sure that gets just as boring, but I suppose the grass is always greener. The job I'm doing does actually have to do with the field I'm (hopefully) going to go into, so I guess this is a good dry run. Next week is going to suck though because we have a large-scale rehousing project going on, and the bulk of that has to be done by Wednesday. Oye.

Speaking of Photoshop...I will do a graphics dump eventually. I've accumulated a TON of stuff over the past few months (mostly challenge icons). Anyway, when I get time I'll post them. Yeah.

I think that's all.

Peace out.
